Arriving at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

Great flight on Delta from LAX to Honolulu - was glad to get out of that nasty weather on the west coast.

The Hilton Hawaiian Village is one of those "family" type resorts but because it is such a huge property, it's usually easy to get away from all of the screaming children for some peace and relaxation.  I do have to be honest, though.  The Japanese are BIG BUSINESS in Hawaii; that's why Cartier, YSL, Gucci, and a host of other high end retailers are here now including at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  So don't feel bad that certain businesses will not be catering to people like you and me - it's just a fact of life.  That aside, there's a Costco close by for cheap people like me!  Everything that's public in Hawaii (including the Ala Moana Mall) is 'open air' - meaning either no walls or no roof to let the pacific sunshine in!  The HHV contains just about everything you could probably need on a vacation to Hawaii including on site car rentals so unless you really want to venture out to that open air junk market near the Sheraton Waikiki, don't.
