The Land of the Trembling Earth

Folkston Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

I took a quick trip home to visit my parents in Georgia. While I was there, we took a couple of little trips close to home. We visited George L. Smith State Park and the Okefenokee Swamp. Here are some Pictures.

The Land of the Trembling Earth

The Okefenokee Swamp is a huge swamp is Southeastern Georgia.  It is home to many animals including thousands of Alligators and hundreds of Black Bears.  The last time I camped here it was freezing cold- about 15 degrees.  Fortunately for this day trip it was in the 60s, and a few animals were out and about, including an owl who must have been confused by daylight savings time.  Anyway, here are some pictures- note the swamp isn't as pretty in the winter as it is in the other seasons, but it's still pretty nice.
