A taste of home in a faraway land

After studying abroad for 5 months and then travelling around by myself for 9 days I met up with my mom in England for some travelling. At that point I had not made it up to Scotland and I knew that I had to go. Well it was perfect timing! After being away from the States for that long I began to feel a little homesick and I knew that it was time for me to go home. Unfortunately I was unable to enjoy the time with my mother as much as I would have if I was fresh off the plane in the new country. Alas, I still had a wonderful time BECAUSE Scotland's landscape and coloring did remind me so much of where I grew up.
Scotland seemed so very lush and green to me. It was so full of life and movement that I couldn't help but feel happy and less homesick than when I was in London. Everything was a little damp and soft. I loved being out in nature and exporing all the lochs in the lower highlands. Only one of these pictures is actually from Edinburgh, the rest are from a tour we took through the Lower Highlands. My mom and I went on a Haggis bus for a day and it was a lot of fun! We got to see much more of the area that if we were to just stay in Edinburgh.
