On our way to California
March 18, 2008
We spent the early part of this morning packing up our travel stuff and putting it in the back of the truck. We drove to the RV park where the trailer was, loaded up the trailer and 1 PM saw us on our way. We decided to take I-90 to I-15, since US 191 and US 20 were reported to be snow covered. We took a short cut, up the Jefferson and Beaverhead River valleys, from Whitehall, MT to Dillon, MT. We have seen mountain sheep (near Big Sky), bald eagles, antelope, sandhill cranes, canada geese, lots of ducks and domestic buffalo. Our route was bare, but it climbed to 6,800 feet in Monida Pass with a headwind. There was a good deal of snow on the side of the road, and the temp got down to 24 degrees. We traveled for about 5 1/2 hours and got about 150 miles. We found an RV park just off of I-15 at an indian casino in Fort Hall, Idaho, and decided to call it a day. We heated up last nights corned beef dinner, and then found that the WI-FI worked. What a deal. It is windy and raining, so we are happy to be warm and cozy in our new little travel trailer.
