Stovepipe Wells, Death Valley, CA
March 30, 2008
Lots of beautiful desert from Olancha in the Owens Valley to Furnace Creek, in Veath Valley. The desert is green with lots of wildflowers in the higher elevations. Furnace Creek is at sea level. Temps were in the mid-70s, very nice. We drove to Beatty, NV and visited the historic gold mine ghost town of Rhyolite. Then we took the 26 mile drive down the one way, Titus Canyon Road in Death Valley National Park. What a spectacular trip. Lots of ups, downs, twists, turns and drop offs. Views in every direction. Lots of sand dunes near Stovepipe Wells.
