Pipe Spring National Monument

Kanab Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

After a wonderful winter of skiing in Big Sky, MT, we are headed to CA in our travel trailer to visit Mary, Dave and the grand girls. We'll hike in the 4 Corners area on the way back. We'll return to Big Sky in mid-April to pack up for a trip east for the summer. We'll leave Big Sky again on May 1st, visit friends on the way to Boston, MA where we'll fly to Germany on May 18th. We'll return on June 25th and spend the summer in New Hampshire and New England.

Pipe Spring National Monument

We loosed the bounds of casinos and headed east. We visited Pipe Spring National Monument. The springs have been used since 300 B.C. Mormons claimed the springs to watter their cattle and crops. They sent cheese and butter to St. George, UT, 3 days wagon ride to the east. John Wesley Powell visited the springs in 1870, before his second trip down the Colorado River.
