A little bit of Adventure

That's me in the middle with all my mining gear!

Who knew a person could find so much adventure in one spot!  Along the way we were able to go down in a coal mine (which was really scary).  You are lowered down in a small elevator down a very very narrow dark shaft.  Then you get down to what feels like the bottom of the earth and it is so quiet down there!  We had to wear little belts and hard hats with lights on the front which felt pretty silly up top but were really useful once down at the bottom.  Besides being really dark it was freezing down at the bottom of the tunnels!  The mine was no longer in use for coal production, but it was hard to imagine anyone having to work in those conditions every day for their whole lives.

The second piece of adventure that I had in Wales was doing something called 'Coastering.

ready to jump off the cliff
"  This is basically where you dress in a wetsuit from head to toe and dive off of cliffs in to the ocean.  It was awesome!  Besides the fact that it was the coldest I ever was in my entire life, the experience is something that I will never forget.  Our guides had us traversing over rocky cliffs along the coastline of Wales and every so often we would jump in to the water and swim to the next part of cliffs.  When we got to this one special spot we actually got to jump off of pretty tall cliffs into the icy water.  Thank God for wetsuits!  The air outside was probably in the 40s and the water was even colder than that.  Swimming was actually nice because it got the blood pumping and it was warmer than just standing outside on the rocks.

Also, on the way to Swansea we visited the Dylan Thomas Boathouse and some other castles along the way (that's what the rest of the pictures are).
