Rev. Wright shows up in Norman, OK
Before heading off to my morning meeting with the client there in Norman, I got a quick breakfast at the Country Inn and Suites. Clearly there was some type of church conference in town. Staying at my hotel was a couple of busloads of people from an African American Church from Georgia.
It was during breakfast I first saw the controversial clips on CNN from Rev. Wright saying "God Damn America". We all were glued to the TV and the somewhat noisy breakfast room became silent. I heard one lady talking to herself saying "What is that man saying?". Little did I know this story would be repeated all across America for months. I didn't watch her closely but I do believe she started to cry a bit knowing what these kinds of words would mean for church-going people everywhere.
