The city with the canyon
September 4, 2006
We booked a cheap flight with Easyjet to Malaga. At the airport we tried to find our hire car what wasn't easy but finally we got it. We decided to leave Malaga without sightseeing. We didn't hear good things about this city, that's the reason we booked our first night in Ronda. We weren't disappointed, the ride from Malaga to Ronda was beautiful!
Ronda is located in the mountains. It's a very special city because the canyon "El Tajo" seperates the city in two parts. They are connected to three bridges. The nicest one is the "puente nuevo" in the city centre. I read about a jail in the bridge in the past.
The bullfighting arena in Ronda is one of the oldest and biggest one in Spain. The current rules of the bullfights date from the family Romero 100-200 years ago. Did you know that the Spaniards kill the bull but the Portuguese don't?
