Eerie....Onondaga Cave
Onondaga Cave is my first stop among many of the 5500 plus known caves in Missouri. Most caves do not open until late March, early April. I have about 10 caves in mind that are a must in my book to visit and Onondaga was the no exception. In the little town of Leasburg, MO this cave is open year round for visitors to gaze at its many spectular formations. The tour was a laid back guided tour with some lights to help you see. It costs $10 for adults and lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. At one point, in the Ballroom, the guide will turn out all the lights to get a real sense of what its like. No most people know what its like to be in the dark, but pitch black is the real thing. Even though you know other people are around you, you cannot help but to feel spine-chilling alon. This was not my first time in a cave; I have exlpored caves in Tennesse and now 2 in Missouri and plan to do a lot more than just spelunking with tour guides.
