Przemysl Travel Blog

I exited the Ukraine and was deposited in the small town of Przemysl.  I found it interesting to see all the many miles of tall barbed wire fencing when crossing the though I were crossing the "Iron curtain" itself.  The Soviet Union was truly paranoid.  Przemysl for me was a breath of fresh air.  Although still a grimy post-communist town with soot covered buildings looking much like it has since WWII, I see some evidence of change around town.  Some of the dirty buildings are hosting bright neon signs and street vendors are selling "Gamburgers".   Truly this country is on a verge of a major metamorphosis.  It will be interesting to revisit in a decade or so.  But for now, it is quite still and quiet, and I feel like the only American for hundreds of miles around.
