Moscow - part 2

Back in Moscow, but in dire straights.  I arrive at night and don't have enough money for a hotel.  The embassy won't be open for a few days and it's starting to snow.  I've only got the sweater I've been wearing for the last few days.  Out of desperation, I find a pay phone and call the professor friend I met in Estonia to see if he can possibly be of assistance.  Before we parted ways, he said he'd be in the city to do some business this month.  We talk briefly but he's still in Estonia and can't really help.  I can only think of one thing and I look up the local branch of my church in the phone book.   I speak to a missionary who makes a few phone calls and sets me up with a local family who will take me in for a few days.  That night at the Pervomaiskaya metro station I met Alyona and her mother - whom I ended up living with for two months.  But first, they take me to stay with another American named Rick (with whom I friends to this day) and his wife for a couple of weeks.
