Fresh market on Marion square in front of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church on King Street
This past weekend, Jay had his department's retreat in Charleston
and I couldn't miss the chance to visit this city. Although I have been there for four times, I can always use a short vacation :) There is good amount of history, great beaches and good seafood in this citiy. Although I like the architecture and the sense of the city, King Street which is one of the main streets , seemed to be a bit like a big open air mall. Yes, the buildings are old, but the names on the buildings are nothing other than "Banana Republic" , J.Crew, Ann Taylor etc..etc..etc... It will be a sad thing if the city loses its charm because of this uniformity happening everywhere.
Hopefully our next trips will be to the other sister cities of Charleston : Savannah and Beaufort.
There is not much to say ... Enjoy the pictures... Here is the city of the roomy porches and hidden gardens behind the iron gates.
