The Night the Holtster was formed

Let it be known to all that I have found a new drink of choice.  Since I had to explain to the bar tender how  to make it, I am claiming the dring and naming it the Holtster.  Take an Arnold Palmer and put a shot and a half of Rum in it.  The Holtster is born.  A smooth drink that is great on a warm Puerto Rican night with a Cigar.

Today was our last meeting.  So we decided to relax on the beach.  At 7:30 we went to this little pizza joint where we met Charlie and Roberto, transplants from the states that have been living in Puerto Rico for a while.  We sat and talked to them for a long time.

When we got back to the Hotel a band was playing and in the courtyard, my friend and I sat and listened, smoked a cigar, and drank a couplr of Holtsters.  What a good night.  We still had one more day here in Puerto Rico, then back to Round Rock.

Second day around Puerto Rico

The Second day of travel around the island was a little bit better.  Not as far to drive and we got to visit Plaza las Americas.  The biggest Mall in the country.  Huge.  Three Levels of stores and a big food court that has food from all over the world.  I had som cuban food that was pretty good but expensive.

After I got back to the Hotel, my friend Frank was back at his and we met up to eat dinner.  We hit this local place that was just horrible.  FThe fish was over cooked.  Frank sent it back, but I had some rice that was ok.  No dessert, but we came back to talk about life and have a couple of Cuba Libre's.

OVerall a very nice day.  Of course I went swimming in the ocean and had my cuba libre as well.

Perfect end to the day

When I got back from travelling the island, I decided to hang out at the beach and have dinner at the Hotel.  Not knowing if I will get back I wanted to expierence the Hotel for myself.  First I went to the beach for some wave diving.  The wves were big again today.  I tried to body surf the big waves in which was fun.  I was out there for about 45 minutes.

Then I took my book and light to one of those square beds with the cloth ceiling on it to read my book and to take a quick nap.  It was the most relaxed that I have been since before my baby was born.  After that I went to the Tapa's bar to mingle.  Then to the resturant to eat one of the best Asian Steaks I have ever had.

Are you wondering where this was.  Check out my reviews.

Off to the room to get some work done.

Travel the Island

Today I had to go to many locations around the island.  My friend Pedro and I started off in San Juan, PR and took off west to teh west end.  We did not spend to much time in the city once we got there, but we saw a lot of the countryside.  We stopped at Arecibo, Mayaguez, Ponceand Caguas.  Once major observation that I saw across the islad was that the east side of the island is much dryer than the west side.

Even though the roads are well kept and the island is not that big, it took about 8 hours to make teh loop and make all the stops. It was amazing that a country like Puerto Rico has amazing roads.  Pretty much we could see the ocean from the entire trip.  Tomorrow we take to the east side of the island which has less roads and more cars.  Then back to the office for a couple of days.

Arrival in Puerto Rico

Today I arrived in Puerto Rico.  The airport was a little crazy and the retal car place was less than helpful, but when I arrived at teh Hotel La Concha, all that I had to put up with was worth it.

When I got here, I had to compelte some work, but then I went to the beach and swam for about a hour before walking around.  the water was cool and the waves were big.  Bigger than I expierenced in Costa Rica.  I think the biggest one was about 10 feet tall.  It looked like a mountain.
After I showered off I went out for some shuchi and retunred back to my hotel room.

Tomorrow I am going to visit half of the island and Wednesday I will vist the other half.  Should be fun.

Another Day in Paradise

Today we had a break in the morning, where I could catch up on some needed rest and work on the emails that have been pileing up in the inbox.  However, I decided that I would work outside in the cool breeze from the ocean.  Not a bad place to work that is for sure.   I am sitting out on the patio of te hotel La Concha watching the people come in and out.

I also noticed that there was a photo shoot taking place.  It is fun to watch what happens behind the scene of a photo shoot.  the photographer not only takes great pictures of the models,  but he puts them to work holding sun deflectors and other types of tools to make the picture come out right.  These models are little as well.  I am twice the size of most of them.  It looks like to me that modeling is not what it is all cracked up to be and after watching 5 models run through shoots of various poses and locations around the hotel, I havve to laugh at them as most of the pictures will probably not be used.  Anyways it was fun to watch.

I am digging the resort life.  I have been able to get so much work and writing done while I havve been here that I am thinkng that I need one of these vacations a year where it is just me and my laptop. Will see if Carrie Goes for that.

Back to the daily grind.  Ha ha.
La Concha Hotel Stay in March
The La Concha - A Renaissance Hotel

I stayed at this Hotel on business and decided to do some of the resort things here. This Hotel is right on the beach. That means all rooms look out on the Atlantic ocean and has big windows that can be opened to listen to the ocean at night. The best night sleep that I have had in a long time.

Beds are clean and cummmfy. Bathrooms are clean.

I have been to the water on the beach several times and the multi level swimming pools are a good place to rinse off. The waves sounds are relaxing and sleep inducive.

There is internet in all the rooms and wireless in the hotel in general. The lounge downstairs feels like you are in the ocean. Per the literature, the entire hotel is supposed to be like you are under the sea. However, I did not see bikini bottom.

Personally I will be back before to long.
