On the road from Denver to Aspen

Landed at the Denver International Airport.  Got my rental car, and started the four and a half hour drive to Aspen!  I was going to join my sister there for the weekend; she was there working at a small convention, and it was also her birthday weekend, so she'd asked me to come up and join her.

The drive was really beautiful, and for anyone that has the time to get to Aspen this way, I really recommend it; it's also a lot cheaper usually, since flying into Denver costs a lot less than flying into Aspen most of the time.  The one thing I didn't like is that there were a ton of places I would have loved to take pictures of, but there was no where that you could pull your car - too bad!

I arrived in Aspen around 4:30 in the afternoon, met up with my sister who gave me the key to our hotel room (we were staying at the Hotel Aspen, I have also included a review on this) so I could settle in, and then I went back to where she was working; a really neat place called the Given Institute, that has a beautiful backyard and some gardens that overlooks some amazing scenery, and some very fancy houses.  (Apparently owned by celebrities, but I have no idea which ones; they were pretty, though!)

Then we went out to dinner with some of her co-workers, to a place called "Elevation".  The atmosphere was cool, but the food only ok; I've included a review.

After dinner, we took a beautiful walk back to the motel, and it was time for bed!

Aspen Restaurants, Cafes & Food review
This was one of two restaurants we went to in Aspen.  Elevation is a very fancy and expensive restaurant, and the look of it is very cool.  … read entire review
