Flying over the Andes was captivating!
Chilean airlines treat you much better than USA airlines.  They serve a small meal even on a 45 minute flight!  I feel much better taken care of.  Today we are going to Mendoza to go to the PASI workshop.  I liked La Serena, so perhaps I will return someday.

I'm feeling very torn about giving up my persuits of a career in astronomy to play music.  I feel so encouraged and inspired by those around me to go on in the astronomy field.  Perhaps I can do both, but I think it will be hard to focus on both at the same time and do well.  I suppose if the music does not work out, I could go back to school.

Shopping and walking this morning in La Serena was wonderful.  A brisk, sunny autumn morning is something that I miss about Oregon.  It is around 35 latitude South, so not too dissimilar from Corvallis, except that La Serena is on the coast.

Somehow my pants got dirty, which makes me feel even more like a lowlife in this stupid VIP club place at the airport.  Perhaps I'm out of my leagu here among all these suits.  High class business/academia is not what I'm used to!

Didn't sleep much last night, as I kept being awakened by my sore stomach and/or phone calls.  Melissa called, and Anthony called again, so I was up a lot.  I think I got around 3 hours of sleep.  Not enough!  Still not sure what made me sick, but I finally am drinking ginger ale.  Perhaps I will try for a nap.
