9.18.08 Yosemite

A busy day exploring this enormous, beautiful park!  We drove Tioga Road to Crane Flat Campground on the west side of the park where we luckily secured a site for tonight.

  • Movie: “The Spirit of Yosemite
  • Ansel Adams gallery – bought postcards
  • Native American village- bark teepee houses, religious grounds
  • Yosemite is an UNESCO World Heritage Site

Campground system for “reservations”- be there as early as possible with 8am opening (try getting there a little early).  3pm they go down the list and you must be there to secure a site, if available.

Propane- the garage was done filling for the day, but they went ahead and filled for us- we gave out Root Beers

Campsite trouble- ran over stump b/c site so tight. One of the most rugged parks with challenging roads, tight campsites, and minimal customer service.

Is there a job title of “Campground Consultant”?  If so, sign me up for that job as I have Alpha-Strategist type advice to offer in this National Park.  I’d even do it for free just to share a few (desperately needed) campground suggestions.
