Beautiful scenery - historic railroad - an authentic mountain town of Silverton all made for a fun day.
The deep gorge, raging river, icy waterfalls, snow-capped mountain peaks, green meadows, gorgeous horses, and cute town of Silverton were sights to behold.
While the train ride was admittedly long (3.5 hours each direction), we are very glad we got to enjoy it. We took lots of pictures, (see below), and read some good books along the way.
We walked to and from (short 1/4 mile walk) the railway depot, as planned.
We also bought hot chocolate and popcorn on the train, got bagels this morning for a picnic lunch, and played at the school playground in Silverton.
We were so cold with our long pants and 2 layers of clothing that we obtained some afordable Silverton sweatshirts. It was 34 this morning when we awoke- thank goodness for the heat in the RV!
Colorado is just stunningly beautiful!
