26.02.2008. After breakfast we headed to the port at Playa Blanca to find out about catching a ferry to Fuerteventura. There are two companies that offer trips and there are several crossings daily. We went ahead and made a reservation for ourselves and the car for tomorrow. After that we saw that there is a glass bottomed boat trip from the boat to Punta Papagayo and decided to get on and take the trip. It was a nice trip along the coast. At one point, people on the boat were feeding the fish and we saw a lot of different fish swimming around under us. Some of the fish we saw were sardines, viejas and even a barracuda.
The boat offers the option of getting off at Playa Papagayo and staying at the beach for a couple of hours. We decided to do that and rode in a dinghy to the beach. We managed to get on and off without falling in the water or getting our cameras, wallets, etc. wet which was great. It wasn't so easy getting off in the surf breaking against the beach! We had a couple good sunny hours at the beach, but didn't swim cause the February water - while warmer than the Baltic - is still not warm enough for me! The time at the beach went by pretty quickly and soon the dinghy came back and took us back to the glass-bottomed boat. The cruise back to the port was quick.
Once we were back in the port we decided to drive to Arrecife and check out the city. It turned out that there isn't a whole lot to see or do there, but we wandered around for a couple hours looking at the sights and ended up having a coffee and buying a book about Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. Later, we drove back to the hotel for dinner, wandered around Playa Blanca a little and then went to sleep.
