I not only arrived at Disneyland on time, but was 5 minutes early to meet Warren! I am sitting outside the World of Disney store, aching to go in but I will be good as Warren will be here any minute! Quick look at the watch, 11:05 still. 11:06, 11:07, geez being early sucks! 11:10 rolls around and hmmm...no Warren. My phone rings and oh, gee, what a surprise - it's Warren! He's close by and after battling the parking snafus, he arrives about 20 minutes later. And in true TravBuddy fashion, what do we do right away but whip out the cameras to get photos of each other!!!! LOL.
But wait, Warren instantly realizes something.
We go through the turnstyle and I am off and running only to turn around and find out I am talking to myself.
FINALLY, we are off to ride some rides!! We head over to Space Mountain which turns out to be Warren's favorite ride. Stand by line says 10 minutes....25 minutes (and no air conditioning) later, we finally get through the line and manage to get front seats! SWEET! After that we wander in circles for a bit and turn back to Red Rocket's Pizza Port for lunch (and sorry Mel, I forgot to be a good foodie and take photos of our lunch!!!).
We wandered through Frontierland and stopped by Rivers of America to take some photos. It was the perfect day to take photos as Disneyland was very empty and most of the rides had lines of 10 minutes or less. I've always loved the design of the buildings and rides in the park and this provided the perfect opportunity to photograph some of my favorites. Of course, unbeknownst to Warren, part of my master photo plan included a stop with none other than my favorite character, Pooh Bear of course!! :-) First stop though.
I have to admit I am amazed we did not get thrown off Pirates since "someone" had trouble with keeping their flash from going off and I think they yelled at us twice during the ride!! :-) Since I was the good guest, most of my photos did not come out in the ride as it was too dark. Disney recently updated the ride and added several animatronics of Johnny Depp and one of Barbosa as well. Although I love Johnny Depp, I was not thrilled to see the references to the modern day movies the first time I went on it. It's slowly growing on me though and I'm sure a couple more times around and I will love it.
Next, we wandered the shops in New Orleans Square and then headed off to Haunted Mansion.
So, now it was off to hit my favorite part of the park.....Critter Country and Pooh's Corner. And oh, what a surprise, there just happens to be a Pooh photo stop! Hmmmm, stand in line for 30 minutes for Splash Mountain and get drenched or go visit Pooh. Amazingly, Warren chose Pooh - he musta really not wanted to get wet!!! You will note a photo with Warren's happy face as we stood in the photo line.
On our way back to Main St, we stopped at every touristy photo stop and even took pictures in front of the Walt and Mickey statue on Main Street. In all the years I've been going to Disney, I've NEVER been able to get near that for a photo opportunity without a bunch of people walking through the photo or in the background! This is also we where mourn the loss of Warren's camera as his 2nd set of batteries give up the ghost.
By now, it's already 3:15 and my feet are getting tired but it's time to head to DCA! I had comfy flip flops on but still had blisters forming. I don't think my tootsies recovered yet from all the dancing at the LV TB meet the weekend before! So, being the die hard Disney fanatic I am, I just bite my lip and keep on going! Warren and I talk about all our favorite things at Disney and it's amazing how much we actually have in common (scary, I know). Once through the gates and the five minute delay while they manually enter Warren's temp pass again, we are off to ride the roller coaster.
The day is winding down now and we have plans to hit a couple more things.
It's not like I really needed the ice cream anyways - I am supposed to be dieting to combat the added poundage from the holidays and an injury that kept me off my feet for a couple months recently (oh yes....the SOBER tumble down the stairs on my last Belize trip that resulted in a couple broken bones in my foot). So, yeah - let's keep walking and finish our last ride since Warren has to leave before he turns into a pumpkin at 5pm!
Sadly, we wander the last part of DCA and finish off at the Soarin Over California ride. That is such an awesome ride and I highly recommend it if you visit the park. It's a simulated hang glider and depicts various California locations, complete with other sensory enhancements.
Until next time.....TTFN!
