Caravaning at Anakiwa point.

Anakiwa is at the far end of the Queen Charlotte Sound called the Grove Arm because it branches off from the main channel.

There is a large Outward Bound School situated here, where young people come to try new things and to learn just what they are capable of, They learn to row small and large boats, to absail down cliffs and they learn survival technics plus ofcause many other interesting life changing things. Youths come from all over New Zealand and often from overseas too to indure some of the teachings, like having to have an early morning swim winter and summer in very cold waters!

There is a long wharf at Anikiwa mainly for the Outward Bound School but good for fishing off too.

A smallish population of people live in this bay some travelling to Blenheim to work each day; its a lifestyle choice. certainly it is a beautiful place to live. We sometimes take the caravan around to this bay and enjoy waking to the sight of the sun on the water and the birds singing.

Your photos are beautiful.
Hubby and I were in NZ last October/November. We drove from Aukland to Wellington with stopovers of course. We took the ferry and the train to Christchurch and then did the drive to Queenstown via Frans Josef. This year we are coming over in August and only doing the south island. We weren't sold on NZ until we got to Wellington and then were totally sold when we got to Christchurch.
