Second Time's a Charm

Having been to Siem Reap and Angkor Wat back in 2002, my only reason to go there this time was to stop for a few days en route to Phnom Penh. After a brutal 14 hours on a miriad of buses, I arrived to a Siem Reap that was more modern and developed than the one I visited 6 years ago. For those of you who don't know, Siem Reap is the gateway to Angkor Wat, one of the world's 7 wonders. The town itself is charming and the people are still friendly, although mass tourism does seem to have taken its affect on them. Many people work around the clock 7 days per week.
After 2 nights, a great Khmer Massage, and whole lot of rest, I headed for Phnom Penh to meet with Daniel. Sorry that I don't have more to report, but again, I was in transit between Bangkok and Phnom Penh and simply needed a resting point.
I do urge you, however, to check look up Angkor Wat and check out the history of this fantastic site. More importantly, take some time to read about Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge regime in the 1970's. It will give you a new respect for the Cambodian people.
