Grocery at Grüne Hütte - Sundays
Austria's opening times for supermarkets might seem to many of her backpacker visitors quite inconvenient. I cannot deny that sometimes I wish they would have open a bit longer. Usually Supermarkets close between 6pm and 9 pm from Monday till Friday and close between 5 and 6 pm on Saturday. On Sunday only a few have open like the Billa at Praterstern (Vienna) and the little grocery Grüne Hütte.

It is small shop, but they have all the basic beverages, food, bread and sweets. Till know I always got was I was looking for and the people are very friendly. Prices are between 10 and 30% higher than in a normal supermarket. And they also sell some self-made cakes and sweets - which are quite tasty.
