Spring in The Netherlands
At the end
of last summer (2007), I bought a digital camera. Since then, I published an
autumn blog and a winter blog. Fortunately, time keeps moving forward and
winter changes into spring. In fact, the meteorological spring started March 1.
Therefore, this blog is a celebration to spring.
Spring is a
time of hope, promise and expectation. A time of rebirth, calf-love and youth.
The flowers and the trees show signs of things to come: the careful forming of
buds, the first bulbs popping their head out of the soil, birds flirting and
mating.
All this is
due to the sun that shows itself more often. The first magnificent sunsets are
a perfect ending to days with beautiful clear blue skies. I could go on for
hours about the beauty of spring. For me too, it awakens a sense expectation. I
know the spring will be followed by summer, and I can hardly wait… However, not
all days are glorious of course. Some are dreadful, grey and rainy. Some still
very cold and spring in the Netherlands is also known to have a few storms.
As this
blog is a celebration of spring, you won't find too many pictures of grey days.
All others, you can see below. Though these pictures are taken in different
locations, for your convenience I've set them all to 'The Hague'. In the
caption you'll find the right city / place.
