Red Rock - Lucky Lounge & Cherry Nightclub
Oh what a night...TravBuddy Vegas style! Actually, from what I hear, this was more of a TravBuddy weekend versus just a meet!! :-)
I feel bad I missed the pre-meet on Friday but I arrived much later than planned so I just met up with my local friends for sushi that night. We spent several hours grazing at Sushi Mon for all-you-can-eat and then had a quick martini at Ollie's on Decatur and it was off to bed for me! In fact, "rumor" has it the TB group was just getting warmed up when I called it a night! It was ok though as I had breakfast plans with local friends....if I had stayed out, I might as well just have gone to breakfast right from the bar! Wow...that actually brings back many memories of living in Vegas. LOL.
Anyways, some of the gang did a pre-meet again on Saturday for Sushi Mon but I was already meeting up with my sushi chef at Osaka, so I just met everyone at Red Rock that night.
I managed to drag along several of my local non-TravBuddy friends - Lisa, Michelle, and Matt (they've all promised to join now...we'll just see!!) and we had a great time drinking and talking at the lounge. I must point out I felt really bad for James though. Being at his first TB meet, he was eager to meet everyone. He introduced himself to my friend Matt and when asked if he was a TravBuddy, Matt replied, "What is that?". LOL. (Matt and I used to work in the same office when I lived in Vegas. He's leaving next week to move back to WI and I had just texted him that I was coming out & meeting friends if he wanted to join). So, Matt became known as the official TravBuddy Crasher for the night! Of course, after hanging out with such great people for the night, how could he not want to be a TravBuddy now!?!? :-)After a few hours of drinking and talking, the discussion turned to dancing and Red Rock's club Cherry was right across the way.
..armed with VIP passes, we were there! We almost weren't after "someone" ignored Mel's request to dress to impress and had athletic shoes on so we almost didn't get in the club....Ahem. LOL!!! Fortunately, after a smile that could charm any woman, he was in. Unfortunately, this is also where we lost Will, likely for another all nighter at the poker tables!Cherry seemed like a great idea at the time but my feet said otherwise shortly thereafter. Several hours on the dancefloor with Angel, Mel, Tracy, Julz, James, and Heinz seemed like an eternity.
I had the most uncomfortable shoes on....but I wore them because, well, they were cute of course. :-) Fortunately, there was always places to sit down when everyone needed to take a break so that helped. Scott and I ended up bailing around 1am or so because I had to get up at 4am to drive back to Los Angeles so he could catch his flight in the afternoon.I hear the fun continued into Sunday when James went to Red Rock with Tracy, Angel, and Mel. See James' Blog for great photos of their trip! What a fun time and cannot wait to see everyone again!! Thanks again to Mel for coordinating a great time and being such a wonderful hostess!

Ollie's has a large menu and a separate restaurant area from the bar but I've only ever stopped in for drinks. I have seen various reviews in the Review Journal about their menu which has all been positive. Their head chef is from Pietro's at the Tropicana.
My friends and I started going to Ollie's when they first opened as they were one of the only places in our part of town and we wanted to support our neighborhood bars! Living in a brand new neighborhood is great until you realize the closest gas station, bar, and grocery store are miles away! LOL. And since my friends lived in Southern Highlands, this was the perfect halfway meeting point. (It will be even better when Decatur eventually goes through from the 215!!)
Ollie's has some interesting drinks on their menu, of course martinis being their speciality. In the past, I've tried many of their dessert ones which were yummy, but I always end up coming back to the green apple..such a girly one I know! This time I had one called the Original Sin martini...unfortunately, besides the Starbucks Liqueur, I cannot remember everything that was in it...it was darn good though! Lisa had a banana boat margarita which was really strong and she made Scott finish it! LOL. After eating like pigs at sushi and being so tired from the combination of sake and too much allergy medicine, this last bit of the night is a bit of a blur at this point!! :-)
The main thing I LOVE about Ollie's though is the art. They feature a lot of Michael Godard pieces that completely embrace the Las Vegas lifestyle. I absolutely love his art and some of the pieces at Ollie's made me love his work even more!! I tried to get some photos but it was hard because the bar was obviously dark and the flash basically whited out the pictures. I am posting a separate review on Godard's gallery in Las Vegas but if you are into his art at all, Ollie's features some of his earlier works.
Again, definitely a place to check out at least once if you find yourself in the SW part of the Valley. Might be best to hit it on a happy hour night as their prices can be on the high side. They have happy hour M-Th from 3pm to 7pm and most drinks are 1/2 price and there are food specials as well!
