A visit to Cayey, Puerto Rico

Cayey

With a couple of friends from Miami, my wife and I went to Cayey.  Cayey is located in the mountains and in the night and the mornings you can be surrounde by fog.  The temperature is usually cooler than San Juan. The reason for going to Cayey was that  we can go to a Lechonera, a restaurant that his specialty is pork, for lunch.  Many lechoneras are located in the Guavate sector of Cayey.  We prefer Lechonera Los Pinos.    There we had pork, longaniza (a type of sausage), tostones (fried green plantains), guineitos (boiled green bananas), batata (a type of sweet potato), amarillitos (fried ripe plantains) and a coconut desert.  After lunch we went to relax at the The Carite Forest Reserve where we spent some time.

Lechonera Los Pinos
Lechonera Los Pinos is located in Guavate, Cayey. There you can get all kinds of typical Puerto Rican food. It is an excellent place to eat especially the pork. You can see more pictures in my Cayey blog.
