Hi all My name is Mark Robertson, 27 years old from Wellington, New Zealand. I'm off to Bogota, Colombia on 4 March 2008 from Auckland New Zealand, via Buenos Aires. Spending 1 month in Colombia attending a Colombian friend's wedding before backpacking my way from Colombia to Argentina, via Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia over the following 5 months.

Buenos Aires

Arrived in Buenos Aires EZE airport.  Aerolineas Argentinas is shambolic. The Argentinians are resigned to this fact.  Upon landing they all erupt into a fit of raucous applause.  Im unsure whether this is to congratulate and thank the pilot or whether it was an expression of thankfulness that they made it back to ground alive, at least this time.  Incidentally the latino men also clap for the pretty argentinian women who get on the plane.

Buenos Aires airport is chaotic with little or no information available to international travellers. It reminds me somewhat of Dunedin airpot on an international scale.  The Argentinians again clapped their hands in appreciation of the hopelessness of their national airline as it was announced the plane was delayed and would be flying via Caracus, Venezuela, then to Bogota Colombia.  No one seems to mind too much.

The vastness of South America is incredible.  Ive never seen so much flat land.

Great airport info! I'm considering a trip to Argentina in November, so it's nice to be aware of what to expect at EZE!
