Mardi Gras Booze Cruise-Long Beach
So, there are booze cruises and then there are Mardi Gras booze cruises. Long Beach has a lot to offer, especially in the summertime. I've been on the Reggae Booze Cruise in the summertime with a live band at midnight. I have also been on the Duffy Boat cruise during Christmas time, checking out the Christmas lights on the homes in Naples Island. But, I didn't even know anything about the Mardi Gras cruise until the very last minute. Little Eric found out about it and tickets were only $15.
Porter picks me up and we drive to Downtown Long Beach to JJ's house. Porter decided to bust out the bottle of Absinthe that I bought him in New Orleans. No thanks-I wont touch the stuff! Little Eric and Lorena with Riley meet up with us at JJ's and we drink some beer and the boys down that bottle of Absinthe.
It's nice out, so we decide to walk to the water. It takes about 10 minutes and the streets are crowded. We arrive at the big old fashioned paddle boat but are early so we duck into Outback to grab a quick cocktail. The bar overlooks the boat and when people start loading in, we decide to pay our bill and quickly leave. We get on board and the boat is a lot bigger than I thought it would be! There are a lot of people already on board, some are dressed up in fun costumes and some are wearing masks.
There is a free food buffet downstairs with Southern Specialties, and bars on all of the three decks. They have huge jugs of Hurricane's and I decide to stick with those. They are only $4 a piece, a really good deal in this town.
We drink, we dance, we fall down. We all barely can walk by the time the boat returns to the dock. There is a band that is ok, but we had so much fun dancing that it didn't really matter. Porter and I are bruised from falling down on the dance floor. Lorena looses her mask, and I loose a contact but am so drunk that I didn't even realize I lost it until I got home. Can't wait to do it again next year!
