The Vatican, part 2

I returned to The Vatican today to go to the Sistene Chapel as it was closed yesterday. I got in line at 9:00 am (it doesn't open until 10:00) and finally got in the door a little past 11:00am! The line followed the Vatican wall for blocks! It rained and sleeted on us for awhile. All I can say is that it was well worth it.
To get to the Sistene Chapel, you go in through the Vatican Museums. This is a long series of rooms, corridors and walkways - very mazelike. It takes awhile to work your way through the museums, and those rooms are gorgeous! Many times the rooms overshadowed the objects within them.
The Sistene Chapel is much smaller than I had imagined. It is very long and narrow. For some reason, I expected the ceiling to be a dome like St.
After leaving the Sistene Chapel, you then go through even more rooms of the Vatican Museum. It took a good part of the day to do this, but again, well worth it.
Today I finally found an internet cafe and have gone back and added missing entries. I think photo uploading is going to have to wait until I get home.
I need to get back to the apartment - I've got quite a walk ahead of me and it's starting to rain again (and thundering, too).
Tomorrow is my last day in Rome - I'm not sure what I am going to do yet. Hopefully the sun will come back out! After that, a short time in Amsterdam, then home on Saturday.
