The Vatican, part 1

Today I headed over to The Vatican. Wow! What I have seen so far is just amazing.
I first headed up to the top of St. Peter's Basilica. The first stop is up inside the dome. You get quite a view of the Basilica from up there! Then I continued up to the cupola. Once up there, you are outside and have a beautiful view of Rome. Unfortunately, it clouded up and got cold today, so my pictures aren't as good as they could be.
Once I came down from the top of St. Peter's, I explored the basilica itself. After I went in, a service started and I think I may have seen the Pope. It looked like his hat, anyway! The basilica is beautiful and amazingly huge! I tried to take pictures but it is so big and so dim, none of my pictures were coming out. I tried night mode on my camera, but without a tripod they came out blurry.
After touring the basilica, I toured the Tomb of the Popes. Not all of the Popes are there, but a lot of them. I did see the tomb of John Paul II.
I think I have cultural overload, and since it is overcast and rainy, I am going to call it a day!
