Today I went to Castel St. Angelo. This was originally the tomb of Hadrian, but then was built upon over the centuries. For awhile it was used by the Popes. There is a hidden passage in an old aquaduct that connects the Castle to the Vatican. The passage was used as an escape route for the Pope if he ever had to get out of the Vatican.
I then checked out Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiore and then I kinda of meandered around, with no real destination in mind. I went back to the apartment for a very late lunch, then decided to check out piazza Navona and Campo de Fiore at night. Campo de Fiore really comes alive at night! Everyone was out drinking and having a good time.
Food can be very expensive here, or pretty reasonable, depending on where you are. The area of town I am staying in (pretty much the center) is expensive, but I found that walking a few blocks can save me a lot of money on food! Fruit, though, is very cheap. I stocked up on fruit and cheese for snacks and breakfast.
