A Great Welcome to Adelaide

My uncle’s house is like a blooming palace!  Seriously, you need a map to find your way around it, and having spent the last week sleeping in a grotty caravan, my spacious room with double bed and private bathroom was heaven on earth.  On my arrival, uncle Dave prepared a bbq and I met his partner Di and my 2 cousins, Josh and Charlotte.  Now, I can’t even remember when the last time I saw Josh was, but I’m sure that his height was a third of what it is now!  I soon realised how little I knew about him and Charlotte, how strange to have such close relatives and not have been part at all of their lives, we had lots to catch up.

 

Adelaide is similar to Melbourne but a bit smaller and with many more gardens.

Likewise, the streets are aligned in a grid and if you can find King William road you know exactly where you are, bang in the middle of the CBD.  At right angles to KW road, there’s North Terrace rd were all the main buildings are, the State Library (with free internet), the University, the Convention Centre and Exhibition Hall, Parliament and Government house, Art Gallery etc… it’s all there, which is handy.  Parallel to NT there’s Hindley st and Rundle street, a paved street where you can shop till you drop.  You can find all this info in any guide so I won’t carry on pretending to be one.

 

I didn’t do much sight seeing in the first few weeks, something more important was on my mind… to sell my car as soon as possible.
