Islander Resort Hotel is centrally located in Surfers Paradise, at Beach Road, just next to Cavill Avenue and near the beach. At this location, it was certainly has the most value as it was affordable. Islander Resort also has a backpacker inn next to it. I took a single room with ensuite bathroom at the backpacker inn at just AUD85 per night! This room can accommodate for 4 pax. The dorms are at AUD28 per person.
I was pleased with the room. It is clean and spacious. There's also a balcony and with good view, u can see up to the beach and the happenings at Cavill Avenue.
The resort has lots of facilities, swimming pool, jacuzzi, game room, internet room and lockers.
My only complaint is that as it is a backpacker place and Surfers being party central, it could get a bit noisy.

Qdeck at Q1 Tower, Surfers Paradise
Q1 is the tallest residential tower and the 20th tallest tower in the world. The observation tower, Qdeck is on the 77 and 78th floor. It is the only beachside observation deck. The view from this tower is amazing, 'stretching as far as the eyes can see'. You can see one end of Gold Coast's beaches to the other, and is a really long stretch of beach!
The apartments at Q1 is for sale, if you have a few millions to spare, it really has the best views! For now, I'll just settle for paying AUD16.50 (actually I paid AUD13 - got the backpacker coupon off my hotel) to see it from the observation deck.
There is also a cafe and bar at Qdeck.
