My favorite picture! Cindy and Liz trying to blow out their candles!

At the end of every month, SLP hosts quite the birthday celebration for the kindy kids who had birthdays sometime during that month. Only dul (two) of my children - Cindy and Liz - celebrated their birthday in samwol (March)! But it was still a morning full of festivities! Before we headed to the party in the gym, Sophia had to practice with both Pear and Orange class to make sure they were prepared to sing and dance in front of everyone! Then we brought our classes to the gym and I escorted the birthday girls, Cindy and Liz, to the front of the gym where there was a long table with lots of fruits and cakes waiting for them (as well as some other birthday kids) and had them sit in their specially designated birthday oojas (chairs) while everyone took pictures and sang "Happy Birthday.

When it was turn for Cindy and Liz to stand in front of everyone, the classes sang to them and their fellow Pear-mates stood in line to give each of them a birthday seonmul (gift) and a birthday kiss! Following this, each of the six classes took turns to perform two different songs and dances for the other children, parents and teachers. My Pear class sang "Skinamarinky dinky dink, Skinamarinky doo...I loooooove yoooooou! (yes I DO have this on video and it is absolutely the cutest thing you'll see!). This was my first time watching all the students perform and they were so good! Okay, so maybe I am a little biased because I love my kids so much and of course think they were the cutest and best perfomance!

After each of the six classes sang their hearts out, we took our exhausted and overwhelmed Pears and Oranges back to their classrooms for a little teaching, a little lunch, and lots of fruit and cake, which of course helped bring them back to life! It was definitely the happiest Friday of school so far! There was so much food left over in the teachers room, that everyone started bringing it to their afternoon classes to share with the older kids! I was even able to take some bananas and tangerines home - though I did forget the bananas on my desk when I left work Friday night, so we'll see how the tasty they still are on Monday morning!

xoxo, jessica
