Our little Zambezi... so sweet...

The elephant orphanage... They take care of elephants that were abandon by their family, left behind because they were sick or could follow or because a hunter killed their mother. Every elephant here has a specific person taking care of them (on the pics you see them sitting on top of the elephant), to whom they get very attached. They are free during the day but they return to eat, to sleep and for the affection they get there. It amazing how much they resemble to humans because of their need to take care of them, to get affection, a safe home where they can eat and sleep. Once, a female elephant was 'abducted' by a wilde troop of elephants because they needed a female to produce. After being 'violated' she could escape and she return to the orphanage, pregnant. She had her baby at the orphanage and since then they live there safely and in peace.

But I didn't just see elephants in Zambia, of course I also visited the Vic Falls... It was the ideal period because there wasn't too much water so you could really see the falls (normally there is so much water you only see fog). On the Zimbabwe site they are even more beautiful and bigger (see on the next entry) but the situation is getting wors and wors there so people start visiting more the Zambian site of the falls.
