Budapest
On our final day in
We then headed out towards Varosliget, which is the city park. It's a little bit further out, but really, really worth a visit. Some of it isn't very fancy, but it's a lovely place to talk a long walk. We loved it. It's also where you'll find
There are also some very interesting statues here. My favorite was the Statue of Anonymous, and the face is hidden in his monk's hood. Very haunting.
I can't recommend a stop here enough if you are in Budapest.
I stayed in this hotel for just short of a week in 2002, and it was a great experience. This hotel doesn't look so special from the outside, but wait until you walk in.
The lobby is stunning, and a great welcome. The rooms are lovely, and the hotel is laid out in such a way, that every single room has it's own private balcony onto the Danube River, which is fantastic! I spent a lot of time on mine, looking across at Gellert Hill, and watching the boats go by. At night, the buildings across from my window glowed when they were lit up, and it was just so beautiful.
The bathroom was very nicely done as well.
There were little touches I enjoyed as well, every day they left little notes of what the tempature and weather were supposed to be that day, so you could plan how to dress for your day out, and they were very helpful and friendly.

This WONDERFUL cafe in Budapest serves fantastic coffee, and the best hot chocolate I've had to this day. It is small and lovely, and had a great atmosphere.
I can't speak to much of the food, because we focused on coffee and hot chocolate both times we went; but the food we saw going to other tables looked really great!
There was just something about this place... it was a wonderful place to be, stop in from the cold, get a warm drink, and re-group. I will never be in Budapest and not have this be one of the first places I go!!
