Woke up at 4:30 am to meet guide at the park entrance. Thank God that night had finally come to a close. Strapped on my headlamp and headed off.
Met up with group and hiked 30 min to temple IV and waited to for the sunrise. It's good we didn't hold our breath because it never came. It was cloudy and nothing really to see. It was cool listening to the Howler monkey's sounding off at dawn. There are currently scaffoldings on the temple as they are in the process of restoring it. Some bats have made a home up there. If you have a guide I think it sort of gives you premission to break some rules of climbing on ruins etc. Not really permission, but they are trying to earn tips. We had a great guide named Caesar and I would highly recommend him. I also discovered there are underground tunnels you can go in if you can find them or pay a guide to take you in them.
I wish we would have taken the bus up from Flores and stayed at Los Amigos! You can still get the sunrise tour doing this. Bus back to Flores. It was so late in the day we got stuck in the worst and last two beds. The beds before had been quite good in the two rooms up front. The dorm room in the back is crap. The private rooms are nice. Played hearts with Mikael and his two friends who had arrived from Denmark.
