During my brief weekend stay in Eilat I had the chance to explore an underwater observatory. Which was cool, but not quite as I expected. Personally I think it would have been better to put the money towards a scuba diving lesson so that I could have seen the wonderful and colorfully exotic fish in person rather then through a glass.
Later we hiked Mt Zedfatot. The path was apart of the same trail used by the IDF for training purposes. It took about an hour and half (maybe more) to reach the top through one of the many trails through the Eilat Mountains. The whole experience was simply beautiful!! The rugged terrain of the mountain range, the setting sun, strong winds and a view of Egypt, Jordan and Israel from one spot on the top of the MT. When we trekked back to the car the sun was completely down and the moon shone brightly, but the trail was pretty difficult to follow.. The path would often disappear and rocks would move as I stepped and climbed over them. It was a true adventure not to fall off the mountain! :P
In the end I suggest visiting Eilat for the outdoor adventures. Besides mountain climbing and underwater observatories you can also scuba dive, ride a camel and go four wheeling..
