My sister and I met up in Vancouver and then traveled up to Whistler. Neither of us are big skiers but we did take a snowboard lesson and left many USD in the Irish pub.

7 days in Whistler/Vancouver

whistler village
We landed in Vancouver and spent 2 nights there before taking the Bus up to Whistler.  Vancouver is a really great city, I lived in San Francisco for several years and it reminded me a lot of that city.  The bus ride was beautiful and a really cheap deal on Greyhound.  There were only 2 other people on the bus besides my sister and I so we had a really relaxing drive.  Whistler is just beautiful and it began to snow just as we arrived, it was really cool.  My sister works for the Starwood corp so we stayed for practically nothing at the Westin which is perfectly situated in the whistler village.  The door to the hotel was steps from the lift and we were dangerously close to several pubs.  We spent 4 days there exploring the village, inner-tubing, and taking snowboard lessons. Conditions were horrible the day we took lessons so I can't say it was successful but I will give it another chance if the opportunity arises in the future.  The mountain is a skiiers dream and I would highly recommend this place to any traveler!
