Went to Cologne again with some colleagues. Pope John Paul II had died the day before, and the Kölner Dom was mobbed, both with worshipers and press. As usual, climbed to the top of the cathedral for the view, this time stopping at the belfry just in time for the ringing of the bells. This is the first time I recall the big bell ringing...hasn't run on any other visits I have made since this one, so I think I got lucky to get the video clips of it going...
And as with any trip to Cologne, I finished it off with my usual trip down the Rhine valley, found a nice overlook of the river at Boppard where I bring everyone these days...
