Excellent home base in Beijing
While a little pricy ( I paid around $200 a night with tax), this hotel offers a lot!
First, the location. Conveniently located for access to the city via taxi, also located right next to the Hard Rock Cafe. Never had any problems getting a taxi to take me wherever I needed to go!
Next, the restaurants. Breakfast was excellent in the silk road trattoria, and the Peking Duck at the 21st Floor Restaurant is one of the best in the city!
The rooms are what you can expect from a luxury Sheraton location. Very comfortable and an excellent night's sleep! All amenities present. Internet does cost extra, but is available.
The best item for me was the travel counter. Through the hotel's on site travel desk, I was able to book tours to the Great Wall / Ming Tombs and the Forbidden City / Temple of Heaven / Summer Palace. I managed to parlay these tours into a third day of tours in the hutong area and vsrious siights in the north of the city with the people I met on the first two days of tours.
If you're looking for a nice home base from which to explore the city and join on a couple of ad-hoc tours, then I would recommend this hotel with no qualms at all!
