Ireland, mainly Dublin, for about four days during my semester break.

Dublin - Day 1

I got to Dublin in the early afternoon.  I had a hostel already booked, and it was very near the main bus station (Busáras) so I just hopped on an AirLink bus which goes directly there (well, one stop on the way) for €6.  There are other busses that make more stops for only €2, but I didn’t really know about them back then.

This first day I pretty much just found myself on O’Connell Street (where the big spire is), had some bangers & mash with a Guinness at some pub, saw “Sweeney Todd” seeing at that point it hadn’t come out yet in Poland, and pretty much that’s it.  I hadn’t slept much the night before, so I went to sleep fairly early (for me anyway).

Price makes it worth it. They have some goofy rules like having to be out of your room from 11:00-14:30 every day, then once you can go back, you have to get your key-card re-coded. Other than that, no real complaints (in fact, getting out of bed before 11:00 forced me to wake up, and do something while the sun was still up). They’re in the process of renovating (as of February 2008), but even that wasn’t a hindrance. Reception is open 24 hours. They have a vending machine downstairs that sells beer for €2.50, but no place/person to make change which was fairly annoying. All in all, not bad, I met some good people there.
