I kept a written journal of during my first deployment. since its a hardcopy, i wanna put on 'digital' in the event i forget or lose it somewhere..I will record verbatim, cuz i have nothing to hide...
Tonite is our last night at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. In a few hours it will be time to load our gear and hop on a one-way plane to Kuwait, by the end of August we should officially begin our tour of duty in Iraq. This is my first overseas deployment in Operation Iraqi Freedom. I joined the 111th Engineer Brigade three months ago, volunteering to go with them while I was on another deployment on Operation Jump Start in New Mexico, that duty was over 10 months. As I sit here while I finish up last minute laundry @ 12:30am I reflect back on the important people I miss, love and wish to have never left. It is my intention that this 'War Journal' gives a better insight of my thoughts, feelings and progress into a foggy, unknown year..to a place I have read and feared. A journey that is all foggy, I can only pray for the best.
