Madurodam and Delft
June 19, 2007
After checking out of the hotel I drove to Den Haag and went to the miniature Holland called Medurodam, After de Efteling i found this placea massive letdown. In the advertising for the place it showed people being able to go right next to the buildings (not the case). Also the park was filled with the elderly in wheel chairs which got really annoying because they would always take up the whole path. Many parts of Medourdam were also under renovation and so we couldn't go near all the buildings. I still got to take some nice photos and it was cool seeing many of the places I had been to in miniature, but i definitely don't think it is worth going to while in the Netherlands. Near the exit to the park I saw a massive yellow clog and got someone to take a photo of Suzie and I in it which is really cool :)
After Madurodam we drove to the town of Delft 10km away and had a delicious pancake lunch on a canal boat. We then walked around the town and went inside both the new and old churches. The old church had the tomb of Piet Hein, I'm not sure who that is, but the hotel i'm going to in Amsterdam is named after him so he must have been important. We also went to the new church and saw where William of Orange is buried. I loved seeing all the stain glass as always and wanted to stay in Delft longer but Suzie had a plane to catch back to London. Rotterdam airport was only 10 minutes away from Delft and very easy to get to.
I dropped Suzie off at the airport and we said our goodbyes and then I drove back to Den Haag. My hotel is located on a corner of a massive roundabout and i think it is a very nice area. After checking in i just went for a walk around town.
