Berlin with my sister

At Checkpoint Charlie
when I got up I checked the light and the
bulb had charred remains on it, I took
out the bulb and threw it in the bin. On
checkout I told reception about the bulb
in the bin and she started going on about
how you shouldn’t do it. I said yeah
learnt my lesson and that was the end of
it.

My flight to berlin was delayed because
someone checked in a bag and then never
showed up on the flight (probably stuck
on the loo or something). We were stuck at the gate for about 20 minutes as
they couldn’t find his bag. Suzie had landed before me and I was happy that
she was at the gate when I collected my bag. I explained the whole fire
incident and she (like most of you probably) found it very amusing.

She even made a point to show me the
information in the room that warns
against doing such things. After
dumping our stuff we got on the hop
on hop off bus and went to check
point Charlie. It really isn’t much
to look at today, but 20 years ago
with the wall, barbed wire and guns
everywhere it must have been
something else.

At checkpoint Charlie we went on a
Helium filled balloon that goes up
150m and gives a wicked view of the
city, I really enjoyed the trip.

After the balloon trip we started walking along the Spree river towards
what we thought was the right direction to the sea plane. It ended up that
it was the wrong way and we turned around and went to other way. When we got
to an area where we couldn’t go any further we spoke to a local who told us
to catch a train from the other side of the river and he gave perfect
instructions.

I wanted catch a taxi to save hassle
but Suzie wanted to catch the train so we
did.

I called up the sea plane company
and he gave the same instructions as the
local, except he picked us up from the
station instead of us having to walk to
the river. It would have been a 15-20
minute walk and we were late as it was,
with the car pickup we made it on time.

The sea plane flight was wicked, taking
off from the river (bumpy ride, those
floats don’t help in choppy weather) we
had an amazing flight over berlin. We got to see all the main sights from the
air and the water landing afterwards was cool too.

Next door to the water plane was a restaurant called “klipper” which is a cool
place as it is a klipper boat on the river. The menus were in german and we
both didn’t have a clue, the waiter was very kind and it took us about 10
minutes to figure out something we would like.
after the flight

Suzie chose salmon and I got what I
thought was pork fillet but I honestly
had no idea. While waiting for our food
this gigantic pig head thing came out
of the kitchen and our waiter said mine
will be just like that, I laughed at
the time but he was right. I don’t know
what it was but it was big, really big.
I ate about a quarter and its been 7
hours and I am still stuffed. We
walked from the Klipper back to the
train station and it did take about
20 minutes. They were having some kind
of festival by the river which was nice.

Everyone was walking around with beer and you could buy a beer every 10
meters or so, I don’t understand why youcan’t drink out in public in Perth
when everyone does it here with no problems. Unlike before we bought tickets
for the train this time, the machine didn’t make any sense (even with English
selected) but it printed out something and we would have shown that if cops
had asked. We got to our stop and we went into the super market next door to
get some water, I found it very funny that they refrigerate beer but not
other drinks. Also you can buy beer everywhere even in a normal Coles type shop.
