My favorite adventure to date - 3 weeks through Southeast Asia in November of 2004.

Preparing to leave South East Asia

On Monday morning, we woke up in Bangkok for the last time, and got ourselves ready to go.  We ran our last few errands in town, bought Thai candy bars for little brothers, and that afternoon headed to the airport.  We had to wait quite a while for our flight, but we finally flew back into Singapore, and arrived at our hotel at about 8:30 that night.  I got dropped off at the hotel to get us through the check in process, while Michelle and Gracie stayed in the cab to run to the store before it closed, looking for one last thing Gracie was hoping to take home; some plates she had really loved.

That final night we stayed at the Singapore Marriot on Orchard Road.  Orchard Road is the biggest shopping area of town, and while we had been gone, it had been all decked out for Christmas.  It was absolutely beautiful.  It reminded us that it would be Thanksgiving just 2 days after we arrived home.

Gracie and Michelle arrived back, and for the first time on the trip, we turned the TV on that last night.  The movie "Final Destination 2" was on HBO, and it was interesting to see what parts they had to cut out in Singapore, even on HBO.

Then it was bedtime, getting ready for our 4:00am wake up call...

This hotel is a true landmark of Singapore, so I was really excited when one of our offers on Priceline came back with this as the hotel!

It's right on Orchard Road, the main shopping area of town, where all the action is.  It is shaped like a giant pagoda, and is an impressive site.

We were only here for one night - our last night before heading home from a three week trip, and we arrived in from Bangkok at almost 10:00pm, and left for home at 4:30 am, so our time in this hotel was very limited.  That being said, we were checked in and out very quickly and smoothly, the room was clean and lovely, the bed really comfortable, the room service hot and good, and the people very friendly and helpful with luggage, getting an early morning taxi, etc.

We got this for $90 on Priceline, in 2004.  I don't think I'd pay the "rack rates" for this hotel, but then again, I don't think I would EVER pay rack rates....
