Lived in Abu Dhabi for 15 month (Feb-08 to May-09). Lots of fun, great friends and things to do

First shoots in Abu Dhabi

Arrived just the day before, I went straight to work here. The wheater is still cool (Around 20deg to 28deg C during the day) and gets cooler at night.

I stay in an apartment called Abu Dhabi Plaza, amd the office is just 10-min walking along one of the main street called Hamdan St. Here I shot some pictures during my trip to office in the morning.

Great lebanese food and friendly service
First time I know about this restaurant was when I pass by the road and didn't know what bring me, but I just entered and asked for a menu for take away. Later on, one of my friend suggested to try this restaurant for lunch. We went there in the morning after one of my crazy clubbing night, thus severe hangover was the result. I didn't eat at all there and feel so sorry to the waiter who had been so friendly. So we took away the rest of the unfinished food, which were: za'atar (thyme) actually this is a "manaeesh" (lebanese flat bread) covered with mixed thyme, sesame and oilve oil.. but normally called just za'atar. The meal of the day, which was roasted chicken..(gosh, I am still drooling remembering the chicken). It was roasted with some gravy sauce and sliced potato.
No need to explain, but of course I finished all of them as soon as I can eat:).

Then a few days later, the girl from Office was ordering lunch when I suggested her to order from this place, and here it comes 2 huge meal package, consisted of: mashed potato and minced meat (which I admit this is not really lebanese), dessert (some white rice pudding), soup and salad. Even 3 of us can only finished 1 set of meal.

Again my and my friend decided to come there again for a dinner, and this time we ordered a shawarma: sliced mutton and chicken with some flat bread and pickles, which no need to say much.. these were great as well, the meat was so tasty.

I can't really recall each dishes' price: but normal 1 meal of the day package (main dish, salad, soup and dessert) will cost ~ 20 - 35 dhs. then the za'atar will cost ~ 7 - 10 dhs.

Pretty cheap and much more worthed compare to 1 package of burger meal cost around 20 dhs.
And guess what, they didn't accept our tip!!!

Really recommeded to be a regular!

A useful guide monthly magazine
"An intelligent guide to life"

This monthly magazine will give you update about anything happening in town.
Good thing that they provide free copies for free in several drop spots such as offices, apartments, restaurants or clubs. Even if you miss it, there are still copies available to purchase in bookstores with a mere 10 dhs (~2 usd).

Do you know if the Abu Dhabi time out magazine is available for subscription? I have seen that the Dubai one is and would like to arrange for the AD one to be delivered to an address within AD. Thanks.
