Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras :)
Finally, Mardi Gras is here. It was the last day of this party weekend! There were some parades programmed, but that's it. Everything was supposed to end early, because the next day was a regular day and people had to go back to work and it was a Catholic Holiday too - Ash Wednesday.
After a "busy" weekend it was time to gave a break to my body. I didn't want to drink any alcohol or eat much that day. Adam had to drive back to the school too, so we decided to meet for something quiet. As usual, I woke up early, took a walk through the quiet streets recognizing the places full of party people of the last night.
Around 10am Adam arrived and picked me up. We went to Magazine St. and had a cup of New Orleans' coffee. Just what I needed, something to give me some energy
He was wondering if I have been in the park already.
I told him I have just been in the entrance. So he decided to go there. I wanted to see the Mississippi River and enjoy a quiet morning. Although we were close to St. Charles Ave, we weren't able to listen to all the people. Just before noon, he had to leave in order to drive and visit his parents. It was sad saying Good Bye to my buddy.I found Mardi Gras more for the children than for the grown ups. Why? Because they are the only one who don't have to worry about going to work the next day. There was just 1 big parade in the Garden District. The other ones were just Truck Parades. The floats there are not as nice as the others, but the kids enjoyed collecting beads and other stuff like stuffed animals and plastic toys.
I just ate some fruit and was chilling out with the family. Just taking it easy and recovering for working the next day.
By the evening almost everybody has left. We took the decoration off pretty quick. It wasn't even 8pm and we were ready. I was helping the kids to organize their treasure: the beads!!! It was unbelieavable the amount of beads they collected. Wow! I took some stuffed animals for my baby Gunther, hahaha.
After a long weekend it was time to go to bed and think about going back to the real world...
This year was New Orleans, which will be my destination next year for Carnival????
