Once again, we started out with cafe au lait and croissants in the Cave at the Hotel Saint Onge, then it was off to Paris travel guide">Disneyland Paris. We caught the RER - A train to Marne-la-Vallée, just on the eastern edge of Paris. It was only about 30 minutes away by train and cost about 7euros each, round trip.
Disneyland Paris is very nice, but a lot smaller than Disneyland in California or DisneyWorld in Orlando. We had a great time on all the rides -- the new Space Mountain Mission 2 in particular! Ioannis cracked me up on that ride -- he screamed and yelled the whole time.
I think Ioannis is a big softie at heart -- he decided that Pirates of the Caribbean and It's a Small World were his two favorite rides! That cracked me up, as those are usually the ones the little kids like the best. It was his first visit to a Disney park, so I had to give him that! I loved the big rides -- the Indian Jones and the Temple of Peril was really good -- I loved the inverted roller coaster part and all the rolls it did. The Runaway Mine Train was not bad either.
The traditional Disney parade on Main Street was a lot of fun -- familiar characters (Snow White, Aladdin, Mary Poppins, Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Beauty and the Beast, etc.), happy kids, music and all.
The cheeseburgers at Disneyland Paris were not at all the same as cheeseburgers at home. Guess it is true what my friend Yann says -- France just can't do a cheeseburger! That is always one of the first things we have to do when he visits Texas from Paris -- grab a cheeseburger.
The train ride back to Paris was very relaxing to me -- I slept through all 11 stops. Ioannis could not believe it. We got back to the hotel at 9pm, showered, changed clothes and were off again for dinner. Being outside all day, I got a lot of sun -- ended up with a sunburned face. We met my Parisian friend, Yann, and a friend of his back at the Sant Antonio pizza place in the Marais. It was great to catch up with Yann.
We stopped in for a nightcap at a club called Amnesia -- said our farewells, and headed back to the hotel. It was a very full day!
