Saint-Louis
September 28, 2006
The location of Saint-Louis is very especially. On one side is the sea on the other side the brown Senegal river. The city was built on the island that's located in the river. With the land is Saint-Louis connected with a bridge. I hope you know what I mean. Unfortunately I can't show you a picture out of the air. But you'll find them in the www.
The old colonial city is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was the first French colony. The traces of this time you can still see. We had the chance to explore the city on our own initiative. With all the warnings at the back of our mind we ambled through the city. Unfortunately I left my camera at the bus so I haven't any pictures of this trip.
Interesting were all the barques at the river. Fancy that, some of the Senegalese try to escape from their country with these barques (via sea)!
